OFF-HIGHWAY VEHICLE PATROLS STATEWIDE SANTA FE - New Mexico Law Enforcement agencies will be conducting roadblocks, saturation patrols, and safety blitzes throughout the state in an effort to check for compliance with the registration requirements and safety provisions of the Off Highway Motor Vehicle Act. Residents are required to register all Off Highway Motor Vehicles through the Department of Motor Vehicles for vehicles that will be operated on Public Lands. Nonresidents can purchase temporary permits from the Department of Game and Fish. Riders under the age of 18 must have successfully completed an Off Highway Vehicle safety course to operate an OHV on public property unless that operator has a valid driver's license. They must also wear eye protection and a DOT approved helmet and can not carry passengers. Riders under 18, who do not have a valid driver's license, must be visually supervised by an adult when riding, and riders under the age of 10 must have a size appropriate vehicle. Law enforcement agencies involved in these patrols include US Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, New Mexico State Police, New Mexico Conservation Officers and local Sheriff's Department officers. The Red River Marshal's Office, with the assistance of New Mexico State Police and Search & Rescue and his Family are investigating a Missing Person. Searchers and Family are concerned for his well-being and are hopeful for a safe return. Arthur Chavez, 29 years old of Albuquerque was visiting in Red River with some family and friends over the weekend and is now missing. Police have affirmed that Arthur checked in and paid for his room at River Side Lodge on Friday June 5th , then most likely took in some of the activities around Town on Friday and Saturday. His pickup was still parked at the Hotel. Arthur was lost seen shortly before midnight on Saturday June 6 at he Bull of the Woods Saloon. It was also reported that Arthur fell while leaving the bar and sustained a laceration to his forehead. Police, Search and Rescue and Family have combed the area with ground teams, a tracking dog, and State Police Helicopter equipped with FLIR (forward looking infra red) Police also know the last place the credit card was used was at the Bull of the Woods to pay a tab. Police have also located two cell phones and have placed a track on a third cell phone that is believed to be with him, however the track has enabled indicating the phone is probably off. The last time the phone was used was at about 9:30 pm on Saturday night. Police and Family are concerned that Arthur may be suffering from a head injury and may not know where he is or that he possibly left the area with another person or hitch hiking. "We are hopeful that someone may have seen Arthur after the bar closed or may remember something that will help in our investigation". Please call the Marshal's

On each of the past two weekends, unknown suspects stole the tires and wheels off of a truck, leaving the vehicle lay "on its belly" at the occurrence location. The first occurred at the
Taos Lighting Center, 114 Este Es Rd. during the overnight hours
of 5/23-24/2009. The 2003 Chevy Silverado that the tires/wheels
were taken from was parked in the fence secured rear lot of the
business. The suspect entered the fenced lot by climbing the
fence along the east side of the property next to Taos Country

Taos County Sheriff's Officers want to know where Padilla was drinking prior to the collision that killed an Albuquerque man and injured his wife and three children.

The State Police and the Taos Police Department have recovered numerous items they believe to have been stolen. These items were recovered during traffic stops of known burglary suspects or from persons with suspicious property which these persons could not account for. The police agencies are asking for any citizen that has recently been burglarized to make a police report so that the recovered items may by identified and returned to the rightful owners. The police have construction tools, jewelry, household electronics and other property. To make a claim for any recovered item, the owner must be able to prove ownership. The owner must supply proof with receipts, serial numbers, or a photo inventory list to make identification possible and have the property returned. Take time now to make sure that you can provide proof of ownership for all of your possessions. Proof can be provided with sales receipts, a written list of inventory items with descriptions and serial numbers, photos or videos of your property items. The rightful owner must be able to identify their own property from that of their neighbors. |
